UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. When doing this it is essential that the new handles are in line with the critical dimensions of the old handle.

The top screw's location the lever, and the keyhole sizes are the three measurements you have to determine. Use the size guide to help with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This style door handle is offered in a variety of styles & finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of tough materials and are ideal for doors with multiple points that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, this allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames where the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter can be used on doors with latches that can be activated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles commonly found on doors. The handle can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to at least 200k cycles and are available in several finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles are supplied with screws and a spindle that allow them to be put on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is often beneficial when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also sprung, solving the problem of handles that slide from their horizontal position when they are not in use.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centre or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the correct handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means they will return to a horizontal state when not in use instead of hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed models, allowing them to be placed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but they can be utilized on other types of doors. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those in the lock body and allow them to rotate a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It depends on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors must be secured with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that increase security, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place however if this is not possible, you can remove it to take measurements. It is essential to not have a extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This will help to deflect the attack and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are constructed to withstand snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is targeted using a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to bring your multipoint lock handles to their original position after using. The handles had no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. Adding this simple component is among the most effective ways to fix this issue and is an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as these are not always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes have been specifically designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you must have a custom hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC  door handles . They are sold as a single unit. They have a square-cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes offer a great value solution to the problem of door handles that are sagging. They are simple to install and will extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
